
All About Kat Amato
Born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, Kat Amato holds a dual-citizenship with the United States and Switzerland. Growing up, she always had music and theater in her life. At age 9 she began playing the upright acoustic bass in her school orchestra and soon joined the choir. Two years later she was cast in her first show with Aldersgate Church Community Theater. She continued to pursue vocals and theater throughout her secondary school career as an active member of Beyond the Page Theatre Company at West Potomac High School (Billy Elliot, Night of the Living Dead, Starlight Express) lead by Director/Choreographer Peelee Clark. She also studied acting privately under Mark Lee Adams.
She is currently attending the George Mason University Honors College and College of Visual and Performing Arts where she studies Stage and Film Acting, Musical Theater, Lighting Design, and Dramaturgy. Since beginning her collegiate career, Amato has been a part of the myriad film and theatrical productions such as, Lysistrata, The Vagina Monologues, and Love, Your Brother, Lukas (which was selected to be featured in Best of Film at Mason 2019). She has written a short-play with her significant other called Into the Canvas which had its world premiere at the 2019 Mason Player's Originals. With a love of traveling, Amato had the privilege of going on the 2019 London Theater Tour sponsored by Mason GEO and the School of Theater. She attended lectures and workshops at the British American Drama Academy, Shakespeare's Globe, and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
For her dedication to the theatre community and her excellent merit, she received the Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts Apple Federal Credit Union Scholarship for the Arts and the Arts! By George Spring 2019 Scholarship. Amato has also received an "Outstanding Actress" award for her performance of the First Witch in a 30-minute rendition of Macbeth at the 2017 Folger Shakespeare Library Secondary School Festival.
